President Obama ran a campaign on transparency - a promise he conveniently forgot. Remember the non-existent C-Span broadcasts and internet postings? Remember the closed door meetings to hammer out a health care deal that we still are in the dark about - not knowing all the details? Remember the Republicans being excluded from such sessions?
As the blogosphere, cable news, and people's interest in the goings-on of their government have made information more sought after and readily available - and in some cases instantaneously - lawmakers still want to hide in a backroom.
Patrick Henry warned us about such actions.
Here's what he had to say:
"The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them."
Funny how he, and the other Founders. would know this could happen.
