Last night a horrendous traffic accident between 2 cars occurred at the end of our street. I didn't hear it happen or even know about it until I heard the trauma helicopter circling overhead. I knew something must have happened nearby. I went outside and then saw it landing at the end of the street. Then I saw the second helicopter land. I walked down to investigate, and it was a mess. Got as many versions of what happened as there were neighbors to ask. Still don't know what happened other than the end result.
One car with 6 people ran into the side of another car (with two occupants) that jumped the median and crossed into the other lane of traffic.
I'm sure that neither driver or their passengers ever thought that some of them would be spending the night in the intensive care unit of the hospital or that they wished injury for anyone else. Yet it happened - just that quickly.
We can't control everything around us, but we must be very aware because things can change in an instant - and not always for the good or what we would want.
