Orlando, You Can Still Say 'No'

Orlando is set to sign the papers with Ray LaHood to make the SunRail funding disaster a reality. Ray LaHood is traveling at taxpayer expense to Orlando to formalize "giving" Orlando our money as the first step toward a life of financial addiction.

Commuter rail doesn't work in Florida. It does not have the ridership to make it profitable. John Mica, in backing this, said that this is projected to serve about 2,150 people a day - that won't make a dent in the debt. This is a $1.3 billion project - funded half by everyone in ther country through their tax dollars and half by the taxpayers of Florida and Orlando. Then, there's the operating costs.

Mind you, this system will not connect to Disney or the Airport. It is strictly a beltway line for commuters. It will connect outlying areas with downtown Orlando.

Rick Scott originally did not support this, and now he does. I hope he will reconsider and pull his backing. He had the power to stop it outright. It's not too late. Same goes for Orlando.
