Where's the fire?

What's the big hurry in committing to and then spending nearly a trillion dollars? I have no concrete idea how much money that is and likely no one else does either. Has anyone ever seen that much money in one place to have an idea of the enormity of this amount? I doubt it.

Still, the President and the Senate Majority leader are making a case for passing this spending bill today - like it can't wait. With this much money at stake - and with more pork than substance from what I can tell - I say wait - forever. We can do without this kind of help, thank you.

Am I against governmental intervention? Essentially yes because it usually creates more issues than it addresses. Would I support targeted, short-term relief? It would depend on what it was, but possibly.

The "rebate" checks that we got didn't seem to do anything. The $7,500 housing purchase rebate that has to be paid back has not created a flood of new buyers.

Congress is great for reacting. It would be nice if they took the lead for once and gave some real direction. Giving back their automatic pay increase (that they could have turned down but didn't) would be a good start.
