Well now I guess it really is too late to get Atlantis ready to go to the ISS and rescue the 6 person crew that is there. NASA officially mothballed the Space Shuttle program and closed the books on it last night. It no longer exists.
Atlantis is being readied to take its place as a museum piece.
A little hasty and very myopic - especially considering recent developments.
Why would we take a program that was 50 years in the making and poke a hole in it? The President has done many things which we can question, and this one leads the list.
Congress needs to reauthorize the Space Program now. Do not launch even one of our astronauts from Russia. Take the funds from Obamacare, aid to Pakistan, dues to the UN - or all of the above.
