I reported last Wednesday about the Russians failed attempt to launch their Soyez rocket to send supplies to the ISS. Now it appears that this is more than just humorous. It's deadly serious.
It seems that half of the the occupants of the ISS (3 of 6) need to come home before the end of September. It seems the other half need to come home in November. It also seems that the Soyez may not be ready in time.
There are 2 emergency Russian Soyez capsules docked at the ISS that hold 3 astronauts each that can be used - assuming they work since they've never been tested in actual space.
The President and Bolden (the political appointee head of NASA) sure have a lot to answer for to the American people for dismantling the space program, including endangering the lives of space pioneers and the many space missions to get us to this point.
Even if we wanted to, I'm not sure Atlantis could be readied in time to launch to rescue the ISS crew.
This means that all the time and effort to create the ISS will be suspended - for who knows how long - while the ship orbits without a crew. Will it even be habitable when a crew is ready to return?
Oh, did I mention the thousands of jobs that didn't have to disappear?
