There's another reason to focus on South Florida - besides all of our great weather and the fact that our spring flowers are beginning to bloom.
Starting tonight, all eyes in the sportsworld - the football sportsworld anyway - are on Miami. In a break with tradition, the NFL Pro Bowl (pro football's version of the "all-star game") is being played tonight. Normally it is played the week after the Super Bowl and in Honolulu. For the first time that I can remember it is being played on the mainland and in the week between the Conference Championships and the Super Bowl.
This normally is a bye week for fans. Glad to see the change.
This means that Miami is getting tonight's game and next week's Super Bowl - plus all of weeklong activities in between.
Can't wait for those commercials next week - fodder for many blogs.
