Rick Scott campaigned on job creation. It's not surprising that he is not happy with what he discovered.
It seems that there are 24 regional workforce agencies in Florida that are charged with helping companies get contracts for business and then hire workers or retain the workers they have. It also seems that they is the appearance of conflicts by board members of those agencies being awarded business - often without jumping through all of the customary and legal hoops. In a 6-year period, such businesses received $1 million in new business through the agencies they serve on.
These agencies have been controversial in other respects - remember when they bough red capes for the unemployed?
Scott's goal is to creat jobs and not waste money. If the agencies are going to serve their role as intended, they need to clean up their act.
I like what Scott had to say about new job creation: "reducing taxes that kill jobs, getting rid of regulations we don't need that kill jobs, making sure we don't have a bunch of frivolous lawsuits — that's what's going to change the trajectory of this state."
