Walmart is taking their fight to the street. I love it.
They are launching a nationwide TV campaign to win back shoppers who have lost confiodence in the low price pledge - with good reason. Their prices aren't always the lowest and they often creep back up after they are reduced.
I will admit that I noticed some reductions over the weekend that I didn't expect so maybe they are serious.
They are committed to matching the competition - but here's the best part. You won't need to bring in the ad. Their employees are charged with shopping the competition and knowing the marketplace. When you see an item that you know is advertised or selling for less someplace, you just say so and it's done. The checkers are supposed to know that this is true. It's now their responsibility.
Don't know the effectrive date of this - maybe it's already been implemented. Will have to try it.
I expect a learning curve here but congratulate Walmart on their bold approach. It's one thing to advertise that you have the lowest prices. It's quite another to actually mean it.
