Why I Never Disable Comments

I know that some people prefer to disable comments on a reblog. I never do.

I want to engage the people that are commenting. The original poster may want to leave a comment or interact with some of the comments.

I make it a practice of acknowledging reblogs on the site of the person doing the reposting, and I often get a thank you from the original poster when I reblog a post.

I think that we short circuit the process of connecting and interacting when we disable comments. That's why I don't do it.

It's not for the points either. When the post is reblogged. The person doing the reblog and the original poster each get 25 points. For the reblogger, that's it. However, anyone who comments get their 25 points (up to their 10 comments total a day), but the reblogger gets nothing for responding to those comments except the satisfaction of continuing the thread and engaging someone.
