Is The Proxy Fight Over?

After spending the entire month of March getting an endless number of "proxy errors" and "bad gateways" and taking some of the fun out of Active Rain posting, it seemed we were back on track the first of the week - only to have a severe setback yesterday. I'm talking as many as 5 errors to one post or comment - continuously throughout the day.

Today, it seems like old times. Let's hope the proxy fight is over. Thanks AR for getting us through this. Next time, please keep us informed - did not see one email or blog about the difficulties, the solution, or the anticipated time for a resolution.

An almost day without Active Rain

A half-day without Active Rain is hard - at least it wasn't the whole day.

When I tried to log on and read a couple of posts before church this morning, all I got was the proxy error. When you depend on good old Active Rain being there, and it isn't, that's just hard to take.

I chalked it up to the time change - figured that the server had issues with setting the clocks back or something.

Then I tried several times this afternoon and this evening. Nothing. Tried Internet Explorer in addition to Firefox. Nothing. Rebooted. Nothing. Finally, just a little while ago - more than 12 hours after I first tried this morning, it came back.

There are days when I'm busy or traveling that I know I won't be able to look at AR until late in the day - but I know that it will be there. Today wasn't one of those days, but it had the same effect.

Just what is a proxy error anyway, and why did it hijack my AR connection?
