How Can This Be?

We know that few - if any - Members of Congress read HR 3590, the infamous health care bill, before passage. In fact, some seemed darned right proud of the fact - like a badge of honor. They were told just to pass it. In fact Nancy Pelosi was filmed saying that the bill should just be passed so the "we can find out what's in it." How fundamentally wrong is this!

You don't know what you passed. We don't know what you passed, entirely that is - although I dare say that we know more about what's in the bill, and what's not in it, than many Members of Congress. A real shame, Inexcusable, actually.

Here's the real head-scratcher. Congress didn't read the bill but just passed it. The President didn't read the bill but just signed it.

What if there are some onerous phrases buried deep into the bill that he didn't want or support? Too bad, he signed it anyway.

Why the rush? He had 10 days, not counting Sundays, to read the bill and then sign it. He couldn't wait to sign it - as if the ink would disappear from the document before he signed it if he waited.

How can the Congress and the President "faithfully execute" their respective offices when they shirk the most basic of their duties - knowing what they are voting on or passing and reading every word before signing? As consumers. we do it. As Realtors, we do it.
