I realize that many Rainers weren't alive or don't have a conscious memory of the events of November 22, 1963, but a few of us do.
People that survived Pearl Harbor have December 7th indelibly etched in their mind. Very similar to the morning of September 11, 2001.
There are certain defining events in a person's life - some positive, most not - when the unexpected happens and shocks the system. You remember so much about that moment - and you always will. Where you were, what you were doing, how you felt.
Such was the case on November 22, 1963 when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. This was such a dramatic event. Fortunately, there have been no other successful attempts on the Presidents, although there have been a few near misses.
We grew up with this. Many of you did not. You only know about it from news accounts of the day and what you have been told. Still, it's hard to believe that this was 45 years ago.
