Much has been made and undoubtedly will continue to be made about experience to be President of the United States. That's really a non-issue, and I'll tell you why.
No one has ever been President until they are. That's why they have advisors and a cabinet. Oh, a few times a sitting Vice-President might be acting President for a few hours or a couple of days, and they certainly can observe the President doing his or her duties. It's like being a broker-in-charge. You've gone to school, you have the license, and you've watched your broker in action, but until your name is on the door, you've never been a broker.
There are deeper, more serious issues in this campaign rather than the amount of time served in elective office. If I recall, Grant, Taylor, Eisenhower, and Washington were elected for their leadership abilities and had never served a day in elective office.
