The whole Tea Party movement - whether you identify yourself with it or not - was born out of the idea that people were fed up with the government running roughshod over us - passing regulation and regulation and stiffling our incomes and freedoms.
It may not be in our nature to challenge authority or to complain openly in public, but that needs to change.
So far taking a passive role has gotten us health care, cap and trade (even though not officially a lwa, many oif its provisions are subtly being enacted by the Administration), Dodd-Frank, and lead paint removal. Mortgage interest deduction is in the crosshairs.
Don't leave it to the NAR or NAHB or AARP or other organization to speak for us. They have a role to play and we are paying for that voice. Nevertheless, we must speak up ourselves.
I made two calls to Congress already today. I'm writing this post. I have mentioned it during more than one conversation that I've had this morning. It's that important.
Choose to do or say nothing, and the new lead paint rule goes into effect next month that adds several hundred dollars to the price of a remodeling job in 1977 and earlier homes.
Choose to do or say nothing, and the mortgage interest deduction will disappear so that museums and festivals can be funded.
Don't let it be said that we didn't put up a fight - even if we don't succeed on every issue.
It is time for everyone to speak up or possible lose this right as well.
