Tonight as I opened the door of my office and stepped outside, I almost stepped right on top of a coral snake. Don't know how it got up on the concrete, but this was not the first - or likely the last - such snake I've seen.
Seems like our area has a lot of coral snakes. I've seen a couple of pygmy rattlers but probably 8 or 9 coral snakes. Some have gotten away. This one didn't although it almost slithered into my office as I had the door open. Wouldn't that have been fun!
Don't let the bright colors fool you. The black head and face is the telling feature.
