Pay-Go - Harry Reid Didn't Really Mean It

Jim Bunning had the courage to do what the other 99 Senator should have done or supported. He voted to uphold a rule they just passed.

It's unfornate for the people who depend on unemployment benefits that the bill in question had this attached to it. That's a whole other story. However, Jim did the right thing.

The Senate had imposed a rule called "Pay-Go" that states that no new legislation can be introduced or passed without a clear funding source for the programs in it. In essence, no more deficit spending.

Jim says that Reid had $5 billion of the $15 billion covered. He had no way to pay for the other $10 billion. Hence, the "no" vote. Everyone was outraged. Look closer. He did not vote "no" on unemployment compensationm per se. He voted "no" on a highway spending bill that contained the unemployment package as an add-on, and the entire package violated the "Pay-Go" plan.

Shame on every Senator who continues to ignore the "Pay-Go" plan. According to Jim, there is some $130 billion in proposed legislation on the Senate floor that violates the "Pay-Go."

And I guess you heard that Obama feted the Dems at the White House last night for passing "Pay-Go." Too bad they can't actually live with their own rules - they just expect us to.
