In business, life, or sport, we never know when or where an important break or opportunity may come. However, being alert and open to the potential of such an opportunity means that we can capitalize on it when it presents itself.
Many of you may recognize the name Lance Armstrong. He won the Tour de France an unprecedented 7 consecutive times. What you may not know is that after a 3 year layoff, he is attempting a comeback.
I saw a replay of today's stage, and on a very flat part of the course - where many might think the riding would be easy - a very strong crosswind played havoc with the field, and 27 alert riders (including Armstrong) broke away from the other riders. They finished the race with a 32 second advantage.
The race leader was in the breakaway group, but Lance improved his position from 10th to 3rd in the overall standing just by being alert and ready to make his move with the others.
Being ready for opportunities can make a huge difference.
