As Dana Carvey's character on SNL, the "Church Lady" used to say, "How conveeenient!" I'm talking about the oil spill.
How convenient that the President and now Charlie Crist want to put off all discussion of off-shore drilling as too dangerous to the environment. One spill and the knee jerk reactions are amazing.
How convenient that this plays right into our continuing to buy OPEC energy.
How convenient that no one wants to talk about energy independence anymore.
How convenient that gas prices get to rise back over $3 and everyone seems to accept it as cause and effect even though it has nothing to do with the spill.
How convenient that no one seems particularly upset. Janet Napolitano today said that while BP bears financial responsibility for the spill that it is really everyone's responsibility due to the potential magnitude of it. Make a note, I'm not claiming any responsibility.
Only today did they begin to cap the spill. BP doesn't even seem to be that worried about all the oil and money they're losing. Doesn't seem like good business management.
This is just too convenient for everyone - and inexplicable as well.
They are convening a 6-member panel to investigate the incident next week.
Meanwhile, it's business as usual. It's reported on the news, but just matter of factly, No one seems to be that upset or concerned other than it's a big issue that they need to deal with.
It was suggested that this could be Obama's Katrina, but that was immediately put down. Everyone is doing all they can. Really?
