A Shout Out To Nashville

Many of our Active Rain family is in the Nashville area and on west to Memphis. We hope everyone is OK.

They have just experienced a week of unprecedented flooding and property damage. Strange, but the Presidential has not visited. Just as well. All is under control. Janet Napolitano was there today, but much of the cleanup has started.

They don't call Tennessee the "Volunteer State" without good reason. Everyone is pitching in to help each other. A marvelous outpouring of community and brotherly love.

The Mayor Karl Dean of Nashville and Governor Phil Bredesen have been in control the entire time, and no one has panicked. There have been no reports of looting.

They say that if it hadn't been for the oil mess in the Gulf that this would be front page news and the largest disaster of the year - billions of dollars before it's done and many casualties.

Still, they have been doing this themselves and setting a great example for the rest of us., Well done, Tennessee.

Sorry for your loss, but thank you for the lesson.
