MLS Can Do Everyone A Huge Favor

If the MLS wants to truly serve the needs of Realtors, brokers, and the property-buying public, they can make one very simple rule change.

I've had it with the properties - often luxury, land, and commercial - where the listing price is undisclosed. Are they too embarrassed to admit they overpriced it? Are they afraid they'll get too many calls on it because it's a bargain?

In reality, it's a marketing ploy. They figure that if they don't dicsclose the price we'll call to learn what it is and express some feigned interest. I learned long ago that when there's no price, there's no phone call from me either.

All MLS has to do is make price a required element to post the listing. Pretty simple actually.

No price, no published listing. That should clear up this nonsense pretty quickly. No ranges either - enter a specific value or asking price. Provide 9 digits to accommodate anything that might be in the $100 dollar range. Then enforce it.
