Congratulations, Joe Paterno

Doing 400 of anything is an accomplishment - 400 situps, 400 jump ropes, 400 stair climbs, writing 400 posts. How about coaching a college football team to 400 victories? Consider that only 12 regular season games are played each season, and it used to be 10. Consider also that you don't win every game. Very few undefeated seasons in college football. Add in post season bowl games, and your're still talking a lifetime of coaching to reach this milestone.

Well. yesterday, Joe Paterno - "Jo Pa" - of Penn State attained the 400 victory mark. This record is likely never to be eclipsed. Congratulation Joe, the Penn State players, Penn State fans and alumni, and football fans everywhere.

Talk about dedication and passion for coaching. Clearly he is doing what he loves.

Excellence is hard to hide!

400,000 Of Anything Is A Lot

400,000 of anything is a lot - dollars, pennies, nails,  2x4s, or whatever. Applied to Active Rain, 400,000 points is a lot. My account shows that I have accumulated this total. Wow!

This represents so much writing and commenting and connecting with people from all over North America.

Thanks to everyone who has read what I have written, left comments, and encouraged me.

This has been a fantastic journey.

Whew, that's a lot of words

Part of me wants to use this post to mark my 700th Active Rain post, and part of me says just keep going with business as usual.

For what it's worth, this is #700. It's been a great ride, and I'm just getting warmed up.

I don't know how many words 700 posts translates into, but it's got to be quite a few.

Even though 700 is a sizeable total, it's less than 800 and 1,000 and other numbers that others have accomplsihed. I didn't write this for any fuss - mainly to encourage others who are on their journey. Each successive post adds up.

Keep blogging.

It's a good thing we have computers

As I sit here composing my 600th Active Rain post, I'm thinking just how hard this would have been had I been limited to a traditional typewriter - manual or electric. I'm not a great typist. I am a pretty good speller, but not when I'm typing. The ideas and my fingers get ahead of my spelling.

If it were possible (and of course we know that it isn't without scanning, uploading, and several additional steps) to type a post and then publish it - much like copywriters and reporters at newspapers used to do before computers came along - I'm sure I would have only a few of them completed due to the length of time spent correcting typing errors. Remember that on typewriters there is no such thing as "spellchecker." That's us, the typer.

Oh, BTW, I lost track of the number of spelling mistakes that I made and corrected just writing this little piece. Oh, we have come such a long way!

A week of milestones

I achieved 2 blogging milestones this week. The first one you already know about, but the second one you don't.

On Thursday, I reached the 300,000 point level and noted that in my post that day. That was the first one and is a great milestone.

Now for the second one. You might know that I maintain an outside blog at homesalesinsights.com on blogger. Many of you read my posts there, and I appreciate your support and following. Well, between that blog and this one here on Active Rain I have made a combined total of over 1,000 posts since the beginning of last year.

Again thanks to everyone for helping me achieve these milestones. I really couldn't have done it without your help.

Yippee, that 200,000 icon rolled over

Can you believe it? It's now 300,000 points and counting. Nice to have reached this level - certainly couldn't have done it without all the support of my many readers and followers. The comments, the new friendships, and the information sharing thus far have been incredible.

Active Rain has changed a lot over the past 300,000 points, and I'm sure there's plenty in store as the adventure continues. This is really a great platform, and I've been able to introduce the Rain to many others who also are benefiting from it.

Thanks for sharing this moment with me, now on with the journey.
