Heat Take The First Step

The Miami Heat won game five tonight at home to take Round One of the NBA playoffs. That's 4 playoff games won, with 12 more to go. It takes 16 post-season wins to take the trophy.

There's a long way to go, but this is an important first step. Can't get to Round Two without getting through the first round.

Dallas, last year's champ after beating Miami in the finals has already been eliminated. Regardless of what happens, there will be a new champ this season.

Miami will take over the highest seed in the East along with home court advantage if Chicago loses one more game. If not, Miami and Chicago likely will be in the Eastern Conference finals after the next round.

Miami Heat Takes Commanding Lead in Round One

The Miami Heat took a commanding lead tonight in Round One of the Eastern Conference NBA Playoffs. In the best-of-seven series (meaning that the first team to 4 wins takes the series), Miami is off to a 3-0 lead over the Knicks.

Nothing is certain, but it would be hard for Miami to lose the next 4 games - 2 of them would be at home.

It's a long way still to the trophy, but this is a good start. It takes 16 wins in each of 4 rounds to take the trophy. Last year, Miami only managed 15 wins.

Miami Heat Returns To Winning Ways

After losing last night and ending their 5-game home winning streak, the Miami Heat went back into the victory column tonight as they closed out their regular season home schedule. They are on the road Tuesday and Thursday for the final 2 games of the NBA regular season. Next weekend they return home to the American Airlines Arena to host game 1 of the playoffs - the second season.

Miami is intent on getting back to the NBA Finals - with a different outcome this year - but they have a lot of tough matches to get through first.

One Down, Three To Go

The Miami Heat kept their playoff home winning streak alive tonight and beat the Dallas Mavericks for the first time since the 2006 series. It was a real team effort, and Miami was able to open up a little breathing room in the fourth  quarter. Until then, it was within a few points either way.

Now Miami just needs to win half of the siz remaining games in the series. Four wins takes the Championship.

If they can win again at home Thursday night, they will have an excellent opprtunity to win it all.

Has It Only Been 5 Years?

Has it really only been 5 years since the Mimai Heat made it this far - let alone playing for the NBA Championship against the same team they beat for the title in 2006?

All Miami has to do is win all 4 of their home games and they are the champs. Of course, winning one or two in Dallas would be good.

The Heat have not beaten Dallas during the regular season - in Miami or at Dallas - since the 2006 series.

The series kicks off tonight. Hope Miami is up for it.

Miami and Dallas - It's 2006 All Over

The Miami Heat did almost the impossible last night coming back to win a game they trailed in throughout. Now they are in the finals of the NBA Championship for just the second time in the team's history.

They will be playing the Dallas Maverick's - also in the finals for just the second time in the team's history.

They met in the 2006 matchup for their first appearances in the finals.

Miami won that time. Don't see any reason to change the script except to do in fewer games.

Miami has the home court advantage because of the better regular season record.

Tuesday night in Miami it begins.

Miami Keeps Streak Alive

It took an overtime, but the Miami Heat kept their home court playoff winning streak intact tonight 101-93 over the Chicago Bulls.

Now leading 3-1, the Heat only need to win one of the remaining 3 games while the Bulls need to win all 3.

The series returns to Chicago Thursday night and then back to Miami for one more game if necessary. The seventh game would be back in Chicago if it is necessary.

Both teams played each other quite well, with the game locked at 85 at the end of regulation.

Miami Heat Keep Home Streak Alive

The Miami Heat just beat the Chicago Bulls by 11 points 96-85 to take a 2-1 advantage and keep the home playoff winning streak alive.

All they have to do is keep winning at home and they are the NBA champs - even if they lose all of the away games.

Nice position to be in. Winning a game on the road - like they have done in New York, Boston, and Chicago - certainly helps shorten the series.

Next game is Tuesday night - at home in Miami.

Miami Evens The Series

The Miami Heat have evened the NBA Conference Championship Series with the Chicago Bulls at 1-1 and now head back to Miami - where they are undefeated in 6 games this playoff season. It would be great if Miami went back to Chicago after the two games in Miami with a 3-1 lead. If their streak holds, this is exactly what will happen. Would love to see it.

These two teams are very evenly matched so it will be a struggle. At least Miami picks up the home crowd advantage for the next two games.

It's Chicago And Miami In The Eastern Finals

The Eastern Conference Finals begin Sunday night in Chicago with the Bulls hosting the Miami Heat for the first two games. Game 2 will be Wednesday.

Game 1 should have been Monday night, but Oprah has the United Center rented for a performance, If Atlanta had won tonight, game 7 would have been in Chicago on Saturday. Ifd Chicago won that deciding game, they would have come back the very next night - as they are now. Whoever rents the space in the United Center wasn't thinking ahead or didn't have that much faith in the Bulls.

At any rate, should be a good series, and many of the analysts are picking the Heat to win even though the Bulls won all 3 of the regular season games.
