Beginning Next Year A Pepsi Bottling Plant Will Be Just That

Pepsi has announced plans to begin using a 100% plant-based bottle for their soft drinks. Next year they will use bottles made from switch grass, pine bark, and corn husks.

So the bottling plant will be bottling a plant - so to speak.

It is supposed to have the same chemical composition as their current bottles but easily degrable once no longer needed by the consumer. It supposedly has no taste transfer to the soda either.

Wonder if it begins to degrade from just sitting on the shelf or in the pantry? How about in the basement or the trunk of the car?

Innovative for sure. We'll see how it works out. Certainly would eliminate the need for oil in the manufacturing of the plastic.
