Paper, What Paper? Paper-less Challenge

How creative can we be in figuring out ways not to use so much paper in our offices? Turns out, we really don't use that much paper anyway - some of us that is - but  a little goes a long way. Here goes on a few ways I've figured out to reduce paper usage even more.

First, I'm committing to not taking any notes that I can't do on the computer or my iPhone. Since I have such a fantastic memory, just tell it me. I can remember it - I think. I hope. Well, it's worth a try. Maybe just one little bitty note once or twice a day.

Second, I already don't subscribe to any print editions of magazines or newspapers so there is no large amount of paper coming into the office from outside sources. Occasionally I'll get something that was not requested. I glance at it and recycle it. If there is an article worth looking at again, I'll scan it or see if there is an online version of the publication with the article in it. No paper. It hardly enters my office.

Third, scan all documents and receipts worth kepping and then toss them - along with the ones not worth copying or filing in the first place. If a paper copy has to be retained for legal reasons, it goes right in the file so that it's not sitting out getting lost or having coffee spilled on it.

Fourth, I disconnected my fax line so there is a tremendous savings of paper here - mostly spam. I receive emails of scanned items, no paper faxes.

Even though I paper is not a huge issue for me, there will now be even less of it.
