Goodwin Liu who had been nominated by President Obama for a District Court of Appeals appointment, before he ran into opposition in the Senate and withdrew his name from consideration before a vote was even taken in the Judiciary Committee, has now been nominated by Jerry Brown for Supreme Court Justice in California.
Occasionally NFL football and basketball coaches resign their positions and move to the college ranks, but usually the aspiration and assention is the other way - from college to a shot in the pros.
Similarly, it seems that Liu is moving down rather than up.
We'll have to wait to see how his nomination moves through the review process and if he sticks with it.
