Finally Mark McGuire admitted what we all knew - that he had used steroids to break the homerun record. Who was he kidding - other than himself and maybe a few kids who didn't want to believe it but probably did anyway?
Add him to Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds - or rather subtract them - and what do you get? You get Hank Aaron with the alltime career home run record of 755 and you get Roger Maris with the single season homerun record of 61 (or Babe Ruth if you count the old format).
Forget about the asterisks next to these guys in the record books. Don't include them. They dishonored themselves, their fans, the game, their teams, and their cities.
How about that? Fair play may actually triumph in the end.
