What A Brilliant Idea

The House today, on voice vote, voted to repeal the 5 year-old ban on incandescent light bulbs. It was attached to the Energy and Water Appropriations bill. A standalone bill failed earlier in the week when it passed with a majority but not the 2/3 passage required by the way it was considered. Clearly the majority in the House  wanted this. They just had to about it the right way.

Now onto the Senate for passage there.

This could definitely bring some jobs back to America.

I Did My Part

I did my part today to buy American and thumb my nose at the EPA. I bought incandescent lightbulbs - several packs.

Most were made in the USA, and the others were made in Mexico.

If we all started buying incandescent and shunned the ineffective CFLs, maybe the market would actually sway the EPA mandate.

EPA cannot have the power to tell was lightbulbs we can use - but they think they do.

Leave the CFLs on the shelf. They don't conserve that much electricity over the incandesxcnet ones, they can't be disposed when they burn out - which is more often than the incandescent ones, and they aren't made in America.

When the LEDs are rolled out to the mass markets, we'll revisit this issue.
