As Hurricane Gustav bears down on the Louisiana coast, our hearts certainly are preparing for this impact along with all of the residents of Louisiana, Mississippi, and coastal Texas - and even coastal Alabama or possibly the Florida panhandle. Having just gone through 12" of rain (or more) from Tropical Storm Fay, and having received a small taste of what Gustav has in store, our prayers and thoughts go out to you. This storm is so big that we have been experiencing winds and brief sudden strong downpours as the outer bands pass over. If you look at the map, you'll see that the outer bands and clouds extend to the Bahamas.
I know that there are many Active Rain members in the areas that will be affected by the storm. Stay safe. Check in with us after the storm and let us know how you're doing and if you need help. This is a vast network, and we certainly can reach out to one another in a time like this.
