A ThemThem to our Active Rain homeschoolers

With the start of the school year, I posted an article Sunday about the end of summer vacation and what that means. I learned that at least two very active members of Active Rain – Debi Ernst and Nestor and Katrerina Gasset – are homeschoolers. Wow, that is just such dedication and commitment – and love.

Parents and their children get to bond in a special way. How many of us remember our second or third grade teacher – or our seventh grade science teacher? When it’s your parents who are your teachers, you’ll remember – forever. Plus there's all of the shared experiences, the field trips, and the joint learning.

Remember asking your kids what happened at school that day and getting a “nothing” or “not much” or “same old” as a response? As a homeschooler, you don’t need to ask, because you already know.

There's other advantages as well such as the children not being afraid of their tacher or feeling that the teacher hates them, no trying to outdress the other kids at school, and no hassles about trying to schedule your vaction to coincide with school breaks.

I know there must be many more homeschoolers on the Rain – no slight intended. I just don’t know who you are. My path crossed with Debi and Nestor and Katerina this week, and I felt it was worth a special mention. So here’s a ThemThem to you – and all the other homeschoolers.
