Six months after the devastating flood that left the Grand Ole Opry stage under 4 feet of water, the auditorium reopened with a "Country Comes Home" performance last night. It shows what a commitment of love and labor can do. No federal funds, no state of emergency, no presidental visits, no Congressional hearings, no lasting trauma - just a solid desire to get things going again.
This is a classic example of the American spirit we used to know. When calamaties were met with determination and a spirit of overcoming rather than one of victimization, woe, and federal aid.
Congratulations Grand Ole Opry and your members and fans! Congratulations Nashville! You did us all proud.
