Today's Freedom Thought

Albert Einstein is regarded by many as a brilliant mind. Maybe the Supreme Court, Congress, and the Administration could learn from him.

He said "A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be."

Applied to the judiciary, it means that the Constitution is there to be read and interpretted as it it - not as the jurists wish it was or want it to be. No reading anything into the document that isn't there or rewriting it to fit their idea of social justice.

As for Congress, it cannot bend the "commerce clause" to justify passing health care or now claim that it is a tax because there's those pesky requirements in the Constitution that taxation be uniform and that commerce be between the states.

As to the Administration, they can't decide to ignore enforcement of the illegal immigration acts or the definition of marriage because they feel they are not consistent with the Constitution. They can't have the EPA impose regulations that are tantamount to legislation.

That is these bodies can't if they heed Einstein's advice. The Constitution doesn't give them these powers or rights. They have simply created them to serve their own purposes and agendas.

It would be great if we all played by the rules. We the people do, and it's time to expect our government to do the same.
