Yesterday, the last Crown Victoria automobile ever was produced at a Ford plant in Canada, and rolled off the line taking aproud history with it. These cars have been popular with police departments and taxi companies because of the comfortable ride they offer and the interior roominess.
While sales still seemed good in absolute numbers, Ford made the decision to pull the plug. They feel that the smaller, more fuel economy cars have taken their consumers. I think they gave up too easily.
This car was never meant to compete with the cars getting 50 mpg. It is a niche car with a very popular following. Seems that Ford could have tried harder to keep the brand.
It will be missed.
