In a bold move that both encourages small business formation and reduces the size of government, a committe in the Floirda House has voted to deregulate some 30 professions, including surveyors, mold inspectors, and interior designers.
Opponents of this move claim the public is at risk because they could hire an incompetent contractor. That risk is always present - even with a license.
This move, which will eliminate testing and licensing requirements, will make it easier for anyone to establish themselves in those businesses and make it incumbent on those who want to lead those professions to seek professioanl designations and testimonials.
It has yet to pass the entire House and Senate, but its a great start and a boost to free enterprise.
