February Is A Tricky Month - Be Careful

February is the shortest month, but it is also one of the trickiest months as far as distractions and occupying our focus - with its many observances and distractions.

Of course today is Groundhog Day, and good old Phil did not see his shadow in the midst of the snowstorm (guess the shadows from the video lights don't count). That supposedly means an early spring.

Not everyone celebrates it, but the 12th is Lincoln's birthday. Then, the 14th is Valentine's Day.

NASCAR racing kicks off with the Bud Shootout on the 12th, followed by the Duels on the 17th and the Daytona 500 on the 20th.

The 21st is President's Day.

Spring training for major League Baseball starts this month also.

For such a little month, there sure are a lot of distractions. We need to stay focused.

I like February

February is a neat month. It has so much going for it. It is a short month - except for those leap years - and that makes February special also.

February has more holidays and well-known special observances than any other month that it should be longer than it is just for that alone.

Finally, February is so neat that we get to do it all over again in March. Today is Thursday the 26th and one month from now it will be Thursday the 26th. This keeps it real easy to remember - kind of like Goundhog Day (the movie).

And BTW, the next time someone asks which month has 28 days, remember that they all do even though February is known for it.
