What are your true colors?

With fall all about us and the gorgeous display of brillant color, a ready-made analogy appears.

We all (at least I hope we do) love to look at the vibrant yellows, oranges, tans, russets, and reds and the variations of them in the many trees across America that are donning their fall outfits in one last colorful display before the winter hibernation.

I'm not a scientist, but I understand that the colors we see in the fall are the "real" colors of the leaves. Hidden beneath the green color that we see all spring and summer are those yellows, oranges, tans, russets, and reds.

During the spring and summer the trees manufacture chlorophyll (why they appear green) to aid in photosynthesis. In the fall this stops and we see their true color.

See where this is going?

What are our true colors? Behind the masks that we sometimes wear for our interpersonal realtionships and interactions? Behind the image that we try to project? Behind the sometimes gruff appearance of "all-business" that we feel we have to present to make a deal? What are our core ideals and values? If the "green" was washed away, what would people see?
