New GM Vehicle to Spark Sales?

Beginning in the next model year (2013) GM is going to release their all-electric (no gasoline supplementation) city car called the "Spark." It has an estimated range of 80 miles and will only be sold in the DC and California areas.

Seems to me that 80-mile estimate will drop dramatically sitting in traffic or cruising along at bumper-to-bumper speeds. Could only be a fraction of that total mileage.

Imagine being in a one or two-hour commute (because of traffic not distance) in the morning, having no way to recharge your battery, and being in a long commute on the way home only to discover that your battery is dead before you can make it all the way home. Can't call AAA for a jump. You'll need a tow.

I think this vehicle would do better in much less congested areas where you would have more dependable mileage with fewer traffic jams and stoppages.
