Clueless, lost, or self-absorbed? - III

Gosh, There's just so much out there. Here's installment 3.

Why is it that I have to listen to someone else's radio at a volume louder than I would ever listen to my own? And they always have their windows down so the world can hear what they're listening to? And while you're turning it down a few dozen decibels, could you please change the station or disc?

And how about the cars that cause your vehicle to shake. You can't always see them but you sense their presence - literally, as the sub-woofers vibrate the bolts loose from their car. How do their cars keep from coming apart?

Or how about the person that you let pull out in front of from a side street or parking lot, and they're not content just to pull ahead of you and keep going? No, they have to navigate their way across 4 or 5 lanes of traffic to get into the turn lane. In the meantime, you're sitting there with the car you tried to help holding up you and everyone behind you - and they're probably not thinking nice things about you.

One more. You're at Walmart (or the mall) and you get in your car to leave. You back out of your parking space and you suddenly remember that you forgot to get something you needed. No problem - you go to pull forward into the parking spot you just left and in the split second it took you to realize that you needed to return to the store, someone else came from the other direction and pulled into your parking space. Technically, you weren't finished with it yet.

Wow, some people!

Clueless, lost, or self-absorbed? - II

Yesterday, I shared some really incredible antics that I have noticed from other drivers. Apparently many of you have seen these and worse also. Thanks for all the great comments.

Here's Part II.

You're driving along and you come to a traffic light. The are several cars in front of you so you decide to leave a space at the exit from the parking lot for anyone who might need to pull out into your lane rather than having to wait for a couple of light changes before they get the chance. So, the pull out all right in the space you generously left without a wave or nod - as if they were entitled to the space - or clueless that anyone would be nice enough to plan ahead for them.

You're driving along and you notice that your lane is blocked ahead with an accident or road work, so being the attentive driver that you are, you change into another lane. But that's not good enough for many people who are more important that you are - or self-absorbed. They drive down the shoulder at full speed while everyone else is crawling along - or another good one is that they stay in the lane that is closed until they get to the front of the line. Someone always lets them cut in line. They know that. They count on it. They exploit our good nature.

They obviously don't care, but it's actually possible to lose ground and go backwards with people moving from behind you to the front of the line and then being let in. This is just not right.

I'll close this rant. I'll have one move later.

Clueless, lost, or self-absorbed?

I've seen this so many times - I'm sure you have, too. The driver that acts as if they are the only one on the road - that the entire highway was built just for them and that no one else would ever dare use it.

You're driving along when the car in front of you suddenly comes to a complete stop with no obvious reason. You use all the braking power and quick reflexes that you have to avoid ending up in their backseat, and then they continue on their way.

You're driving along and sudden;y someone from 2 lanes over decides that they want to drive in front of you in your lane - no signal, no notice other than you see this aggresive (possibly clueless) driving.

You're driving along and someone - oblivious to your presence - makes a right turn right in front of you after moving all the way across the expressway in the amount of time it took you to drop your jaw and take evasive action.

Are these people lost? Oblivious? Clueless? Poor-mannered? Self-absorbed? Maybe a little of each?

Driving sure can be an adventure. Be very careful.
