Yesterday, the US House voted overwhelmingly not to raise the debt limit ceiling. Only 97 members voted in favor of the measure.
This isn't the end of the line; however, and it likely will be raised eventually - not without substantial monetary cuts first.
The House has sent a message that it's no longer business as usual for uncontrolled borrowing and spending.
I want to see the huge cuts and retain the vote on no limit increase. That would be the best of all.
Don't tie the increase to budget cuts. Just get the cuts and leave the limit where it is. It will be easier to live with after the cuts anyway.
