We Need That Personal Contact

One of the reasons I like sales is because of the personal contact and the relationships that are a part of it.

As humans. we require personal interaction.

It disturbs me that so much is becoming impersonal today. I'm in Las Vegas this week at the Builders Show, and I saw something that really was remarkable. I've seen video poker before and other animated games. I've seen people sit in front of slot machines just pushing buttons and not talking to anyone except maybe the person seated next to them. However, this was the first time I saw a virtual dealer. People were seated at a console in front of a TV screen on which an image of a person was simulating dealing blackjack for those seated at the console. There's just something wrong with that picture - like being able to talk with the dealer or the other players. I think they call it interaction.

Take real estate along these same lines. We have videos and virtual tours of our properties, but don't our customers still want and need to talk with us to make the sale? Maybe even see and experience the propertry first hand?

Let's not forget the importance of the personal element as we run our businesses.
