Florida Still Losing Jobs

While construction may be improving in other parts of the country, Florida still has some serious catching up to do. A couple of markets are showing a spark, while most are still languishing.

In a study conducted by the AGC (Associated General Contractors of America) about construction jobs in America, the study found that from February 2010 to February 2011 that most major markets in Florida were still declining.

There are a couple of bright spots such as the panhandle, with 3 of the 4 plus-side markets located there. Crestview-Fort Walton Beach-Destin that lead the list with an 11% growth. Panama City was right up there at an 8% increase. Punta Gorda at +4% and Pensacola at +2% were the remianing gainers. Naples was flat at 0% change.

All of the other areas lost jobs.

Those cities reported in the survey are North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota (-1%), Miami (-3%), Tampa-St. Petersburg (-3%), Cape Coral-Ft. Myers (-4%), Orlando (-4%), Ocala (-5%), Ft. Lauderdale (-6%), Lakeland-Winter Havem (-6%), Jacksonville (-75)(, Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville (-7%), West Palm Beach-Boca Raton (-7%), Daytona Beach (-9%), Gainesville (-9%), Palm Coast (-11%), and Vero Beach (-11%).
