We Can't Talk About It, But It Has To Pass

There are several Americans who honestly thought they were going to get some meaningful health care reform. I was never one of them, but whether you thought so or not, over 3-in-5 Americans do not want what has been dreamed up by Harry Reid.

First, he works out backroom deals and twist arms,  dishonoring his office. He buys the 60 votes he needs to cut off debate, because the one thing he cannot have - and still have it pass on Thursday morning at 8:00 - is for anyone to discuss what is in the bill.

Then he refuses to publish it, and even Obama is OK with this. After all, this was only one of many campaign promises the President has dishonored (like the no new taxes on the middle class that are in this bill). Come to think of it, the presdient also promised us C-Span where the debate would be held for all to see. Oh, but then there would have to be debate for us to watch it.

No one has read the entire bill because parts of it are still being written.

Bill Nelson of Florida lets his voice mail fillup and doesn't empty it - what a great way to avoid taking calls from your constituents. This is not the first time this has happened in the past couple of months.

Washington, DC was in the throws of a 2' snowstorm Sunday night, and the city was all but shut down. That didn't stop Reid from holding a session for the Senate and a late hour (1 am) vote to get his baby on the road to passage. See the pattern hear - Sunday afternoon sessions, a 1 am vote, and an 8:00 am vote? Won't get much discussion that way - by design.

And now, it appears that in the rush to just get something passed, Nancy Pelosi may just accept the Senate version and get her minions to pass it. This would eliminate the conference process and exclude many legislators (of both parties) who have been counting on this time to reveal some of the thousands of warts in this bill and rectify some of them or toss it out in favor of something better.

Two things are certain. Our government is out of control, and they like it that way.

Oh, one more thing is certain. No one is allowed to question Mr. Reid.

Get used to it, comrade.

Just When You Thought Harry Reid Was Done

As if Harry Reid hasn't done enough with the bribes and extortion to coerce elected US Senators to go against their constituents, the will of the country, and their oath of office, he has even more surprises.

Today we find out that the NAHB is in all-out attack mode (where were you before?) because Reid has adjusted the threshold for the health care exemption for small businesses - set at 50 or fewer employees to just fewer than 5 employees for the construction industry.

How can he single out just one industry? How can he pay for Medicaid for just one State? How can he make empty promise after empty promise? How can he get away with most of the shenanigans he is doing?

NAHB's indignation and fervor in fighting this atrocity is appreciated - even if it does come at the 11th hour.

I seriously doubt that Mr. Reid is done. Stay tune for more of his cute tricks.

Is That Harry Reid Or Svengali?

Harry Reid, and to a lesser extent Nancy Pelosi, is bullying and threatening his colleagues (often with the blessing and at the behest of the White House) into throwing away their good judment and principles for the promise of future riches. Sometimes these bought Senators have good intentions. That doesn't make it right. The end is not justified by the means.

Bill Nelson has been promised that Medicare Advantage, when it is canceled because Medicare is taking a half-trillion dollar hit to fund Reid's Folly, will still apply to Dade. Broward, and Palm Beach Counties even though the program will no longer exist. Ben Nelson has been promised that you and I will pay Nebraska's Medicaid bills forever, while the other 49 states pay for their own. Mary Landreau has been promised $300,000,000 - and the list goes on.

So here's my question. What happens after the votes are in and the die is cast - and the promises are forgotten or not funded? Oops. Big time oops!

Do you really trust Svengali Reid to deliver on these promises? What if he can't? What if he changes his mind?

Folks, start looking for conservative candidates to take the place of the Reid and Pelosi sympathizers in both houses of Congress who have lost their way and will sell their votes and ignore the will of the people.

Instead Of Change We Can Believe In, We Are Getting Unbelievable Change

This is change we can believe in? Passing bills that the public overwhelmingly opposes just to satisfy some hidden agenda. Buying votes in the House and Senate - nothing short of fraud and bribery? People abandoning their principles because of the promise of cash for them and their district? What if that cash never comes through? No matter, the vote will have been cast and the damage done.

Unbelievable!

We are seeing the evolution of a new species in Washington. The spineless, gutless politician. Not much good for anything productive. Haven't seen any recent polls but I imagine they now a have a solid hold on last place in the hierarchy of respect Americans have for various occupations.

There are very few members of the House and Senate who actually take their oath of office seriously. Uphold the Constitution? When was the last time they did that? Oh, that's right, they probably have read it yet.
