Most Of The US Senate Is Irrelevant

Most of the US Senate - that would be 99 members of it - are irrelevant and unnecessary. We should send them all home until January of 2013.

Harry Reid is the only Senator that matters. He is running the Senate as if he is the only member, and in fact, he appears to be.

Time after time, he promises that bills passed by the GOP House - often with broad based bipartisan support or cross-over voting from both parties - will be defeated as soon as they arrive at the Senate. And he sees to it that he keeps his promise.

The lastest assurance comes from an emergency funding measure narrowly passed by the House to keep the lights on in Washington. He doesn't like it and will not pass it so we will have another crisis to play out in the press.

If we want legislation passed in this country, we can send the House of Representatives home along with the Senate and just ask Harry Reid what he would like. Of course whatever he supports is out-of-step with what the country wants.

So, until Reid is replaced in January, 2013, we will have an impasse in this country where relatively nothing gets to the President's desk.

I doubt that the Constitution really intended for one person to control all of the legislation in this country.

Need A Break From Work? Get Elected To Congress

Oh those poor overworked and overpaid Members of the House of Representatives.

Since coming back from their August recess, they are now down to a 2½ day work week.

They had the audacity to stand on the House floor yesterday and blame the Senate for holding up bills that they need to consider and thus impacting their work load.

Need something to do in those other 3½ days? That's right. We work 6 days a week - so should you.

Here's a few things you could try:

  • Read the Constitution and memorize it
  • Read the Declaration of Independence and memorize it
  • Read the health care bill, the cap and trade bill, the stimulus bill and anything else you have been "too busy" to read
  • Fire some of your staffers to save us money since now you have the time to actually do some of the work you were elected to do
  • Take some of our phone calls and actually speak with us instead of pushing it off on a staffer or voice mail
  • Actually be available to meet with us in your local office when we stop by.
