When Computers Attack

It's one thing to have computers become possessed and then act obstinate, melancoly, or belligerent about doing what we ask of them or doing it in a timely way.

It's quite another when they become aggressive.

I've had issues this week. Using Outlook has been an endurance contest - a test of wills. Since I was using it remotely, I wasn't - and still am not - sure what the issues were.

Today, it is still running so slow as to be the graduate level test for patience.

Then, without warning, it downloads 586 emails that I have already read and acted on - most already deleted from the server and my computer. Where did they come from? Does my computer have a secret cache?

All anti-virus and anti-this-and-that show nothing suspicious.

Just when you think you are at least staying even or getting ahead in the computer game, they come up with one of these.
