Not only do we think and see in color, but we use color for many of our common expressions and descriptions.
Just think of all the different ways colors are used not as adjectives so much (such as a white handkerchief) but as part of a two or three word noun.
For instance, we have red alert, amber alert, white paper, black Friday, blue laws, blackberry, bluetooth, white lie, grey water, green building, brown out, red letter day, green light, white caps, black hole, red tide, white out, black out, white knuckler, in the pink, rose colored glasses, black tie, basic black, green thumb, brown nose, brown bag, white walls, red zone, white noise, pink noise, white elephant, and pink elephant.
I know there are many others, but I don’t want to try that hard to think of them right now.
