Who Knew How The Connections Related?

In the social media realm, so many things are connected so many different ways that a glitch one place throws off lots of unforeseen issues elsewhere.

Amazon.com is a well-known online retailer. In fact it is setting the standards for ecommerce.

It's also the largest cloud-computing provider.

Because its servers went down on the cloud side, a large number of other sites went down: reddit, ow.ly, foresquare, quora, and hootsuite. How many of us knew of this relationship?

Other sites affected by the Amazon server issues are SCVNGR, discovr, wildfire, livefyre, campgroundmanager, totango, eschedule, zehosting, recorded future, percentmobile, and the cydia store.

Gives you a whole new respect for Amazon.

Nice Try, But A Little Late

Google is coming to the market with a new netbook-type device that is a cross between a real computer and a tablet. It looks like a generic notebook computer but has no decals or markings on it. It is described as a web browser - Google Chrome - tucked inside a netbook body.

All of the activity is designed to be done in a cloud format. There is no desktop and no computing function.

It is not competing with the iPad because it can't, so where is the rest of the market that it's appealing to?

Seems like a very risky venture for Google-Microsoft, but then Microsoft has a history of poor launches and late arrivals.

Right now the "Cr-48" as it is being called is only available as a beta product to selected testers. Don't see it as anything a businessperson would want, but it you see or hear about it, now you know.
