Devin Hester, star return specilaist for the Chicago Bears, and now the all-time NFL record holder for punt returns for a touchdown. He set the record today with 11:32 left in the second quarter. He had been tied for the record with 10 returns. Now he owns the record outright with 11. This came on the next series after he nearly ran a kickoff back for a touchdown - being stopped by the kicker as the last player he neede to beat before scoring.
After scoring, Hester celebrated by somersaulted 3 times in the end zone. He was penalized 15 yards on the ensuing kickoff for excessive celebration - considered unsportsmanlike conduct by the rules.
I think he had a right to be happy and to celebrate his record-setting achievement. Wouldn't any of celebrate?
Congratulations, Devin. Bad call, ref - this was certainly a time for "no call."
