Why don't they just skip the election in Chicago and annoint Rahm Emanuel as the new Mayor?
First there was a question of hos meeting the residency requirement. He clearly had not lived in the City since moving to Washington to be the White House Chief of Staff. Also, he leased the house that he had been living in. That makes it doubly sure he wasn't a resident. Property owner yes, resident no. No matter that requirement was overlooked by the Election Board.
Then he had a lot of prominent challengers, including Roland Burris, the Senator appointed to fill out Obama's term. Burris and others dropped out.
Now a judge has upheld the ruling of the Election Board and says that indeed Emanuel satisfied the residency requirment and is a bona fide candidate.
Like I said, why not just skip the election?
