Talk About Being Thrown A Curve

This afternoon my Blackberry Curve unexpectedly stopped being a cell phone. It started having convulsions, flashing data and changing screens faster that a stock ticker. It wouldn't respond to any buttons. Attempts to revive it through a change of the battery or massive reset were unsuccessful. It gave signs of coming back to life before its screen went dark for the last time.

Now. I have to replace my cell phone. Didn't see that one coming.

When is a cell phone not a cell phone?

Cell phones. What did we ever do without them? I can remember that far back, but I'd prefer not to.

Can't live without them. Sometimes, we can't live with them either.

This afternoon on my way to a 3-hour meeting, my battery died in the middle of a call. This was unexpected - I guess I had talked more than I thought - so I had no spare battery or charger.

This begs the question, when is a cell phone not a cell phone? Answer: when it doesn't do what it's supposed to.

There are at least 3 times this happens:

(1) the battery dies - oh no!

(2) we forget it and walk off without it - panic attack!

(3) it breaks - unthinkable!
