How many times do we see politicians or executives or sports figures blame or attribute their poor performance to anything but themselves?
The weather was wrong, the officials made a bad call, the press misinterpreted that remark, the competition got lucky?
I particularly like highly paid athletes complaining about something that did cost them the win that they either caused themselves or didn't foresee and figure a way to overcome it. Essentially, they are mad at themselves for messing up and are looking to deflect their anger by lashing out at circumstances, their equipment, the conditions, their competitors, their teammates, or officials for causing their misfortune.
I've discovered that there are some people who just can't handle success and subconsciously sabotage their own efforts.
Personal responsibility and belief that we are worthy of victory are important for success.
Just wanting to win or succeed is not enough. We have to be willing to do so and accept it.
